Council By-Laws are from a template provided by Supreme. The body of the template is required to be "as is" for approval by Supreme. We in the council are allowed to adopt "Council Policies" that adapt the template to our own existing policies. (Such as, while the template and our official by-laws say "A memorial Mass for deceased members is celebrated in November, our council instead does a memorial in May, since we also visit the town cemetery. Spring is more conducive to an outdoor ceremony than November!)
Council Policies are updated as needed by the current grand knight.
Email Alerts Policy
There is a need to set up a list of council members for special "Email Alerts." This list will be used only for critical alerts to council members, and only emails authorized by the current Grand Knight of our council. Emails "alerts" must be of interest to the general council membership. The "alerts" will not be a substitute (or duplication) of information that is available through normal channels (such as the newsletter.) Examples of such emails would include:
Alert for special projects, which could occur between meetings, when no other council-wide means of contact is available.
New details to correct information in the newsletter, such as a change in time or date for a council event that cannot be corrected otherwise in a timely manner.
Alerts about a member's passing and funeral arrangements.
This will NEVER be used for SPAM emails (no jokes, no politics, no amazing "must see" pictures, no prayer chains, no cute You-Tube clips...)
This will NEVER be used for private business.
This will NEVER be used to send out reminders nor notices of information that are available through other communications. (If you read about a KofC party in the newsletter, you will NEVER be sent daily harassing "Alerts" reminding you to sign up.)
This will NEVER be used as a substitute for normal communications at council meetings and/or newsletter announcements.
As a start, the moderator has made the list to include all those in 4442 whose email is known to us. If you do nothing, then you will be included in the Alert List. If you wish to be removed from the Alert list, reply to this email with "Unsubscribe" in the Subject line.
NOTE: The Alert List is separate from the monthly Newsletter Announcement emails. Any action you take with the Alert List will not affect your existing choice with the Newsletter Announcement emails.
